Please remember that we do not have roadbook printing facilities at the event, and it is the competitor’s responsibility to ensure they have downloaded and printed their roadbooks.
Should you, for any reason, be unable to download your roadbook, please send us a WhatsApp requesting a copy to be sent to you via email or WhatsApp.

How to Load Your GPS Unit

Competitors are encouraged, as far as possible, to download the GPS track for the event from the Competitor Hub and load it onto their GPS units themselves.

We are aware that there are certain older GPS models where it is not possible to preload your GPS track yourself. If you have one of these units and have in the past needed assistance loading the track, please see Sarel during the time set aside in the morning so that he can assist you to load the track.

You will need the following to load your GPS:

Internet connection
SD / Micro SD card to install the data

Steps

MARINE (5xx, 6xx) users
1. Insert your Micro SD / SD card into the card reader on your PC / laptop.
2. GPSMAP 276cx and NUVI users — plug your GPS into your laptop with a USB cable.
3. Wait until a window opens showing the contents of the card / GPS — note the drive letter.
4. You will see two files on the download link below — select the one that matches your GPS unit (tap the file name):
  - 276cx, NUVI, etc.
  - Marine Units (5xx, 6xx)
This will download a zipped file marked NR – 1 – EVENT NAME 300. Extract the zip file and you will see a folder marked:
1. 276CX, NUVI — NR – 1 – EVENT NAME 300 - Competitor GPS Load.exe
2. MARINE — NR – 1 – EVENT NAME 300 - Competitor GPS Load.zip
Download your file by ticking the box to the left of the file, then click the download icon.
Once downloaded:
- Windows users — do Step 6, then go to Step 8.
- Apple Mac users — skip to Step 7.
The downloaded file is a ZIP file. Unzip / extract / unpack it to the root of your SD card / GPS. It will create the set of folders and files required to operate your GPS.
For GPS units that normally accept the map without any trouble — simply insert the SD card into your GPS and turn off all maps / charts except the Race Map. If you loaded it directly to your GPS, you are done.
For those who require a GPX or ADM file:
1. Power up your GPS.
2. Once fully powered up and on the main screen,
3. insert the SD card.
4. You should now be given an option to “Manage User Data” (this differs from unit to unit).
5. Select “Replace from Card”.
6. Once completed, the track should be loaded for you.
7. Please note: you cannot see the track until you are at the race venue.
8. If you are at the event and nothing is showing up (make sure you have a good GPS lock):
  1. Repeat from the beginning of Step 5.
  2. You may need to select file type = ADM or GPX (depending on what works best for your unit).
  3. Then select:
    1. For ADM files — EVENT NAME.ADM
    2. For GPX files — EVENT NAME.GPX
  4. Please note: ignore the warning “Map cannot be authenticated” and continue with the steps above.
